First United Church of Christ Quakertown

Our History

For over 165 years, First United Church of Christ has been a dedicated community in Quakertown, PA, striving to live out the teachings of Jesus. We are a community of different people who gather to worship, grow in our faith, and embody Jesus' love and healing for each other and our wider community.

Our History

1856 - We began Gathering on 10th St.

1861 - We became St. John’s Reformed Church

1864 - Moved to a new building on 5th and Broad St, and became the First Reformed Church

1934 - Our denomination at the time, the Reformed Church in the United States (formerly German Reformed) merged with the Evangelical Synod of North America to form the Evangelical and Reformed Church

1957 - The E&R denomination merged with the General Council of Congregational Christian Churches to form the United Church Of Christ and we became known as the First United Church of Christ.

1964 - First UCC moved to our current building on 4th street and Park Avenue.

Since 1964, our congregation has utilized our building to Worship God, to Help others in need, and to Find the Joy of discipleship, spiritual growth, and telling all people about the goodness of God.
