The Women’s Guild was formed in 1950 and our mission is to provide both financial and compassionate support to the members of our congregation, our community, and beyond. We meet five times a year at 7:00 pm on the first Tuesday of October, December, February, April, and June. Our meetings consist of a time for business, worship, and a program that is sometimes inspirational or informational, sometimes a craft session for our other projects, and occasionally it is just for entertainment.
We spearheading the annual Thankoffering which provides financial assistance for such
things as weather-related disasters, donations to charitable organizations such as Bethany Children’s Home and Phoebe Ministries etc. and from time to time, the Thankoffering goes to another local need.
At Christmas the guild decorates the large Chrismon and Angel tree in the narthex. We also provide a small gift at Christmas and Easter for our sick and shut-in members. We find that a visit from a guild member is usually the best gift.
For Valentine’s Day we send “Love Packages” consisting of snacks, supplies, and toiletry items to college students and military personnel within our congregation.
We subsidize the cost of the Upper Room booklets for those that want one and we provide a Woofi (A stuffed dog with “Jesus Loves You” and “Precious are the feet who bring the good news” embroidered on the underside of the ears) to children baptized into our congregation.
We provide Christmas and graduation gifts to the residents of Bethany Children’s Home and cards for our own high school and college graduates.
The guild supports other deserving organizations or projects when there is a need.
We are always happy to welcome more women to our meetings and to assist us in our endeavors.
