How It All Began
Our story and fascination with the scrumptious red berry began in 1954. Together with surrounding churches, a community charity event was held on the Quakertown Hospital grounds (now St. Luke’s Laboratory Services, Quakertown Campus) to support the operations and treatments offered at the hospital. The event, then just called a Lawn Fete, featured food, games, and music.
In the years since, the hospital merged into the St. Luke’s Hospital Network, ending it’s need for community funding. At that point, First UCC was the event’s main organizing church and so the event transferred to 4th and Park Ave. This location change brought with it a new cause: First UCC Church School and Christian Education programming. Sometime afterwards friends and supports of the event introduced strawberries as the featured dessert topping as the event was always around the middle of June-prime Strawberry Season!
Today, we continue this favorite Quakertown event with Live Music performed by The Legendary Quakertown Band, Outdoor Lawn Games, Summer Eats & Treats, similar to our Lawn Fete beginnings. We’ve also expanded the family fun to include our Silent Auction, a Christian Ventriloquist, Dunk Tank, and Obstacle Bounce House!
So don’t miss out!
