Sunday School – “Let the Children Come to Me!”

First Church believes that Christian education is vital to each person’s spiritual growth and maturity. The church’s support of a state-of-the-art Sunday school program reinforces that fact, offering classes and growth opportunities for a wide range of ages.

The First Family Class encourages parents, and/or grandparents, of newborns through toddlers to accompany their baby to class where they learn basic Bible stories through vocabulary, song and play. Do Babies Benefit From Bible Class?

Faith Factory

Faith Factory is First Church’s Sunday School program for preschoolers through those in grade 6. Faith Factory brings with it a curriculum offering workshops where children learn a story or concept repeatedly over several weeks, visiting fun spaces where hands-on learning reinforces Christian values and sound biblical teaching. Our Curriculum rotates on a 4 – 6 week schedule.

Each Sunday starts off with “J.A.M. *Session” (*Jesus And Me), a loud and fun praise time. Workshops include Creation Station (art), Solid Rock Café (cooking), Cinema 3:16 (videos), Holywood (drama, puppetry) and Faith Arcade (games). Most series ends with a Celebration Sunday where the children enjoy sharing what they’ve learned with the congregation.

Confirmation

Confirmation is for youth in grades 7 and 8 who are preparing to become members of Christ’s Church by professing their faith in Jesus as their Savior. First and second year confirmands attend a weekly Sunday school clas which is currently following the Grapple study program. Second year students also meet weekly with the pastors as they prepare for Confirmation in the Spring. All our confirmands are encouraged to participate in service to the church in various ways.

Adult Education

Adult Education Opportunities are also available. We are currently offering two adult classes: the Adult Forum Class, lead by Roland “Butch” Felix, which begins each Sunday at 10:45 a.m. in the former Quilters’ Room and a series on the Life & Ministry of the Messiah. Adult classes are offered on a regular basis throughout the year. Classes have been offered on parenting, marriage relationships, financial stewardship and also the Alpha Program. The program, Five Wishes, is scheduled on a periodic basis. Its focus is on the end of life issues and how a person wants to be treated.
