“This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.” ~ 2 Corinthians 9:12
First Church’s Care Committee is the parent organization for many opportunities for service to our members. Services offered under the Care Committee umbrella include:
Meal Ministry – Preparing meals and delivering to those recently hospitalized or grieving.
Prayer Team – Participants receive prayer requests and commit to offer prayer on behalf of those who have requested it. Confidentiality is imperative.
Shut-In Visitation – Members commit to visit our shut-ins in person and/or by telephone.
CDs and Bulletins – Recordings and bulletins from our services of worship are available to those who cannot attend.
Home Repair – For members who need minor home repairs and can’t afford to hire someone, our team of handymen will assess the problem and do their best to offer advice and repairs.
Flower Delivery – Flowers from our services are delivered to members for special occasions and circumstances.
Drivers – This team is available to drive members to important appointments when alternate transportation is unavailable.
Shoppers – Volunteers who will pick up items at the store and deliver them to homebound members.
Caring Cards – Sympathy, Thinking of You and Get Well cards are sent out to members when we know of a hospitalization or illness.
Funeral Luncheons – A team of people available to help set up and serve for luncheons following a member’s funeral.
Knit One, Pray Too – Our church’s knitters and crocheters create beautiful prayer shawls and lap robes for anyone who feels the need for a cover of warmth and prayer.
