Ash Wednesday Service – 7:30, February 22
This service of confession and repentance will include the imposition of ashes for those who desire. The service will also include the removal of those ashes using the waters of baptism.

Lenten Soup Suppers – 5:30-7:00 – beginning February 29
We will again enjoy wonderful soups and desserts as well as a program of videos focused on the days and weeks preceding the first Holy Week. These videos were done for commercial viewing on the History Channel, the Biography Channel, and A&E. They provide interesting information as well as giving us some insight into how Christian events are presented to those who may not be Christian. The experts who are interviewed provide some alternative opinions to traditional views. Our discussions that will follow these videos will center on those things that intrigue, enlighten, or confuse. For example, one major character in Jesus’ final days was his disciple Judas Iscariot. Although very little is actually known about him, the information we do have can be interpreted in several ways.

Please consider attending these Wednesday gatherings. The food is wonderful, the fellowship is supportive and warm, and the topics to be discussed should be interesting. Sign-up sheets for providing soup, dessert, bread/crackers or drinks are in the Narthex.

Ham and Roast Beef Dinner

February 18 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Dinner includes Full Salad Bar. Cost of the dinner is Adults – $10.00, Children (5-12) – $5.00, and Children 4 and under are Free, Take outs are $11.00. Tickets are on sale now. Watch for details on future dinners on March 24 and April 21. All proceeds from the dinners go to benefit the 2012 Mission Trip to Camden, NY. Please be aware that in the case of inclement weather, you may use the following information to check changes in services. Call the church telephone answering machine message which will be updated with the latest information (215-536-4447) or you can check Channel 69 website at www.wfmz.com (click on “school closings,” click on “church/worship/libraries.”

Please also note that the weekday policy for inclement weather is as follows: if the Quakertown Community School District is closed for the day, the Church Offices may be closed or may have reduced hours. All scheduled activities for that day will be cancelled. If QCSD is operating on a two-hour delay, all scheduled morning activities will be cancelled. If QCSD cancels all after-school activities, all scheduled activities at First Church will be cancelled. (This policy is in place unless a specific group makes other arrangements to continue with their schedule.)

1950′s SOCK HOP

On Saturday, February 25, First UCC will be hosting another sock hop! It will be held from 6-9:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. There will be plenty of music, food, and dancing for all ages! Tickets will be sold in advance starting on January 22 for $1.50 for adults and $1 for children under 12 years. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $2 for adults and $1 for children. Please plan on attending this hip event! If you have any questions, please call the Church Office. Dressing up is optional!

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
